An increasing number of college students are registering to vote, according to a new study.

Tufts University says from 2014 to 2018, college voter turnout doubled.

In Westchester County, young voters ages 18 to 20 skyrocketed from about 400 in 2016 to more than 4,000 in 2018, according to the local Board of Elections.

Westchester County wasn't alone. Rockland, Dutchess and Putnam counties all saw major jumps. Only Orange County saw a decrease.

According to the Tufts University study, a number of different motivating factors are credited for the increases, including climate change, immigration, gun control and the political climate as a whole.
