Thornwood residents await answers in athlete's death
The police-involved shooting that resulted in the death of a Pace University athlete shocked the Thornwood community last weekend, but most local residents say they're withholding judgment before all the facts are made public.
"You can't come to judgement right away because I don't think the cops will just shoot just like that," says Thomas Mathaws, of Pomona.
Police say Danroy Henry was driving along a curb near Finnegan's Grill in Thornwood when he knocked Pleasantville Police Officer Aaron Hess onto the hood of his car. They say Henry kept driving and sideswiped another officer, forcing Hess to open fire.
Witnesses, however, insist Henry was driving away when an officer ordered him to stop, then jumped in front of his car and opened fire.
"It doesn't make any sense why a student who was trying to do something with his life would just hit a cop and keep going," says Jessica Rivera, of Chappaqua.
