Wintry weather to hit Westchester, Hudson Valley
Department of public works crews around Westchester and the Hudson Valley spent Thursday preparing for the bout of winter weather expected to begin Friday morning.
Crews in Yonkers readied thousands of tons of salt to sprinkle the snowy streets ahead of the morning commute. ?It's gonna be a dangerous storm,? said John Liszewski of Yonkers DPW. He also said crews would be out early in the morning to stay on top of the weather.
Workers in Peekskill said they will try to keep the main roads as clear as possible despite the heavy traffic they are anticipating for the morning.
Residents lined up at area Home Depots and hardware stores to stock up on winter supplies.
A winter storm warning was issued for all of Westchester and the Hudson Valley. Forecasters predict up to seven inches of snow by the time storm is over late Friday. However, the snow is expected to turn to sleet and freezing rain by nightfall.
Stay tuned to News 12 for storm coverage.
