Two Department of Public Works employees in Yonkers have pleaded guilty to official misconduct.
Authorities say Robert Parisi and Romario Moore took money in exchange for transporting prohibited garbage using a city truck. The two workers were arrested Wednesday during work hours following a two-year investigation.
Court documents say it happened on Fennimore Avenue back in March 2016, prompting a joint investigation by the FBI, Yonkers Inspector General and the Westchester County District Attorney's Office.
Authorities say Moore accepted an envelope full of cash on March 8, 2016, and two days later Parisi did the same thing. They say it was all caught on tape.
Yonkers Mayor Mike Spano released a statement saying in part that the city would fire both workers.
"Let this be a strong message that we will not tolerate improper and unethical behavior from our city employees and will always hold them to the highest standard," he said.
Moore and Parisi were fined $1,000 and given one-year conditional discharges.
