One person is dead and two others have been hospitalized following a two-vehicle accident at Tiffany Street and Barry Avenue in Hunts Point.
The fatal accident happened at around 6:45 a.m. Tuesday and involved a minivan and a tractor-trailer. A truck driver says he was sideswiped by the minivan.
He claims police were following the minivan, and that it tried to go around his truck before crashing into the rear of the tractor-trailer.
Two people were taken to Lincoln Hospital. A third person died of their injuries on the scene. The name of the victim will not be released until the family is notified.
Police say the driver of the minivan has been arrested and charged with driving without a license. They say more charges are pending.
