Officials say one person has died and four others were injured, including two firefighters, after a fire ripped through two apartments in Morris Heights.
The FDNY responded to the fire at 1484 Montgomery Ave. at 7:45 a.m.

The fire escalated to a two-alarm fire at 8:20 a.m.
One person was transported by EMS to Jacobi Hospital with serious life-threatening injuries, but they later died of their injuries.
Two civilians and one firefighter suffered minor injuries. Another firefighter suffered more serious injuries but is expected to be OK.
About 141 fire and EMS personnel responded to the flames. The department of environmental protection has been notified.
Crews are still on scene.
