State leaders announced Friday $100 million will be going toward expanding internet access for thousands of households across the state.
Sen. Chuck Schumer was joined by Gov. Kathy Hochul and Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand to announce the funding as a part of the American Rescue Plan.
The initiative is designed to help people access the internet in low- or moderate-income communities.
According to officials, an estimated 100,000 homes and families will benefit from the initiative.
