A major $101 million deal will help pave the way for the completion of Lionsgate Studios in Newark.

The New Jersey Economic Development Authority and Nuveen Green Capital announced the loan under the Garden State Commercial Property Assessed Clean Energy Program on Thursday.

It will fund the installation of solar-powered energy systems, electric vehicle charging and water conservation measures for the studio.

The NJEDA says the energy-efficient features will help reduce electricity by 388,000 kWh annually, lessen the strain on the power grid and lower utility costs.

The water conservation measures are also projected to save 259,000 gallons annually, according to the agency.

The 12-acre studio will house six soundstages, set-building spaces, production offices, equipment storage areas and more.

Construction is expected to conclude sometime next year.
