Two parents were arrested this weekend under Leandra?s Law for allegedly driving drunk with children under the age of 16 in the car.
Police say that Michelle Reyes was driving drunk with her four kids in her car when she crashed and Roberto Bueno-Bueno was driving drunk with his two sons in the car.
Prosecutors in the Hudson Valley as well as across the state have found the law a useful tool in cracking down on DWI. So far, 300 arrests have been made statewide under the law.
The law also requires anyone convicted of a DWI to install an ignition interlock to prevent them from driving while intoxicated again.
