Two female police officers accused of punching and pistol-whipping a man have been stripped of their badges and weapons.
Police say the incident happened Friday, when the off-duty officers were riding in a private car near the intersection of White Plains Road and 218th Street. They say a man?s car door blocked the street, slowing the officers down.
According to police, the women got out of the vehicle and approached the man, Marlon Smith. A verbal argument between Smith and the two women ensued, and it quickly turned physical, police say.
Police say following the assault, Smith needed 25 staples on his head and suffered blurred vision and multiple bruises to his face.
Both officers have been charged with several counts of assault and criminal possession of a weapon.
