A crash involving a passenger car and a tractor-trailer injured two people and shut down all lanes of I-84 east in Newburgh this morning.
Police say the collision happened around 6:30 a.m. at mile marker 36.2.
The crash caused the tractor-trailer to overturn, blocking all the lanes of the highway, causing a five-mile backup. All eastbound traffic was diverted off onto Exit 34 for Route 17K.
Both drivers involved were taken to St. Luke's Hospital with minor injuries. No other individuals were believed to be in either vehicle.
A Hazmat crew worked on clearing most of the scene just after 10 a.m., followed by the arrival of a heavy-duty tow truck before 11 a.m. to complete the cleanup.
State police are continuing its investigation into the crash to determine its cause.
