Two Maple Hill elementary students are recovering from separate attacks that sent one child to the hospital with serious injuries.
The incidents happened last Thursday and then on Monday.
One boy suffered a broken orbital bone that required surgery and a facial implant, according to family.
A second child was allegedly assaulted by a different student getting off their school bus and left with cuts to their face and mouth. That student’s mother provided photos to News 12 of her child’s injuries.
The district confirms both incidents and says disciplinary action is being taken.
Town of Wallkill police say the student seriously injured was assaulted in the school's gymnasium and that the underage defendant was referred to the Department of Social Services' Juvenile Justice Diversion Program.
