Two more Hudson Valley police departments are reporting that they've gotten calls about a text scam selling police apparel.
Briarcliff Manor police shared a screenshot of a text that touts "police departments hoodies $10 off, ready to order now." In response, officials say, "We would like to advise the community that the Briarcliff Manor Police Department, nor the PBA, aren't selling shirts nor condoning the sale of shirts, hoodies, etc. A number of municipalities in the area have been receiving similar messages that may be a scam. If you received the below message, please disregard it."
Pelham police are reporting the same text saying, "Scam Alert!! Be advised, the Village of Pelham Police Department, nor the Pelham PBA aren't selling these shirts. Do not click on the link. If you received this message, please disregard it. This department is aware of the text and will be looking into the matter. "
News 12 has reported that police in Bedford, Beacon and Ardsley have all warned citizens about the scam.
All departments say don't trust the text, don't click any links sent to you, and report to them if you get this message.
