Two Westchester County corrections officers have been fired for what has been called a litany of serious violations that led to a prisoner escape last July. Geraldo Rojas had been arrested in Yonkers for multiple robberies. Due to a medical event, two officers were sent to watch him at St. Joseph's Hospital. He escaped from custody several hours later. He was arrested a day later in the Bronx.
The officers had been suspended since the incident and then ultimately fired. The decision was made by an arbitrator. News 12 reached out to the officers' union for comment but had not heard back as of Wednesday evening.
