2-year-old Congers girl diagnosed with terminal brain cancer celebrates 'Half Way to Halloween'
Two-year-old Lily may be small, but she's standing up to the challenge, after being diagnosed with terminal brain cancer last November.
Friends and family in Congers celebrated Halloween a few months in advance on Sunday for a little girl who is fighting for her life.
Two-year-old Lily may be small, but she's standing up to the challenge, after being diagnosed with terminal brain cancer last November.
"Lily is incredibly strong and the benefit of her being so young is she has no idea that she's sick. She's spending every day being happy and strong and enjoying her time here," said Lily's mother, Tori Dauksza.
Hundreds of friends and neighbors, dressed in costumes took to Beauregard Terrace to help Lily celebrate Halloween, her favorite holiday.
Lily's dad, Rob Dauksza fought back tears.
"The amazing things that the community has done for us has really given us a chance to spend as much time with her as possible and really do as much with her as possible," he said.
More that 60 cars, trucks and vans turned out with offerings of candy, food and toys.
Lily thoroughly enjoyed all the attention, dressed in a costume that her parents described as "Princess Spider Lily."
"We just wanted to make sure that she had the best day ever and that we gave her everything that any kid could possibly want for Halloween," said organizer Pamela Gibbs.
