Neighbors rescue driver from Yonkers floodwaters amid heavy rain

Storms this evening quickly overwhelmed the sewer system in several parts of Yonkers causing flash flooding.
Eyewitness video provided to News 12 shows neighbors pulling a driver out of his car after he got trapped in rising water on Culver Street between Purser Place and Hawthorne Avenue.
"I figured hey, why not? Took off my shoes, went in there, pulled him out, went around the block looking for other people," said Christian Pages who pulled the man from his car.
About half-dozen cars were trapped along Nepperhan Avenue between Cross Hill Avenue and Executive Boulevard.
Officials said the water went up through the city's drainage system and rose halfway up several cars.
Parts of the Saw Mill River Parkway were also closed due to cars going off the road and dangerous conditions.
Viewers reported flooding in other parts of Westchester as well including in Greenburgh and New Rochelle.
The condition of the driver who had to be pulled from his car is unknown at this time and police haven't said if anyone else suffered injuries because of the flooding across the county.
