Westchester County Executive George Latimer provided an update on the current number of migrants being housed in the county.

As of now, there are 412 asylum seekers, including 132 children, with only one of those minors over the age of 5.

Latimer says there has been no surge in crime or outbreaks of disease.

He also reminded residents that the county's housing of migrants is not a new development, citing a similar situation during the Trump presidency.

“We had in Westchester County, five years ago in 2018, 1,000 migrant children placed here in four locations. Because of the politics, there’s been a focus on this particular situation in a way disproportionate to what happened five years ago."
