As the United Auto Workers strike enters its third week, hundreds more auto workers are feeling the impact.

General Motors (GM) is set to lay off 164 workers across two stamping plants, while Ford is initiating layoffs of 330 workers across two facilities.

These additional job cuts follow GM's previous layoff of over 1,800 workers and Ford's reduction of 600 positions.

Leaders of the United Auto Workers union assert that these layoffs are a tactic employed by manufacturers to increase pressure on union members to hasten the resolution of the strike.

In response, auto makers argue that the layoffs are a result of slowdowns in the manufacturing process stemming from the strikes.
