New Rochelle celebrates at 59th annual Thanksgiving parade

Bands, balloons and banners are just some of the things that spectators saw at this year's Thanksgiving parade in New Rochelle.
The 59th annual parade was put on by the city's Chamber of Commerce and took place along North Avenue.
Lifelong New Rochelle resident Minister Mark McLean served as the Grand Marshal.
"This has been a foundational parade for...as long as I can remember," McLean said.
The honor comes at the end of a difficult year for the minister.
"I had lung cancer," McLean said. "I almost died, but God was faithful to give me supernatural healing and so I'm celebrating and thanking God today."
Mayor Noam Bramson was also celebrating the season. It's his last Thanksgiving parade that he'll attend as the city's mayor.
"It's really special to reflect on 28 years of participating in this event. It's always such a great celebration of what New Rochelle's all about," Bramson said.
The mayor said he still plans on attending the parade in the future. The event will turn 60 next year.
"It's going to be bigger and better than ever," said Catherine White, the executive director of the city's Chamber of Commerce.
White added that they're going to start the planning for the big anniversary "almost immediately."
