Former Democratic Rep. Mondaire Jones called out Republican Rep. Mike Lawler about his vote for an impeachment inquiry into President Joe Biden.

Jones did so Wednesday morning outside Lawler's congressional office in Pearl River.
 

"Working families in the lower Hudson Valley aren't interested in a sham impeachment inquiry,” said Jones. “Or Mike Lawler’s desire to score cheap political points." 
 

Jones was surrounded by supporters, some of whom voiced their unhappiness with Lawler about not supporting an assault weapons ban as well as his stance on Social Security.
 

"I respect my constituents,” said Lawler to News 12 at his office on Wednesday. “They all have a right to voice their opinion.”
 

The freshman Republican congressman defended his inquiry vote. "It is not a vote to impeach," said Lawler. "It is a vote to get the facts and the evidence. And that will determine what, if any, next steps there are." 
 

Jones is seeking to be elected once again, trying to unseat Lawler for New York’s 17th Congressional District in the 2024 election.
 

Lawler defeated Sean Patrick Maloney in 2022 while Jones ran unsuccessfully in New York City.
