Eclipse viewing event to take place at Bear Mountain
Gov. Kathy Hochul announced an eclipse viewing event to be held at Bear Mountain State Park on Monday, April 8 from 2 p.m. through 4 p.m.
The total solar eclipse, which only happens once every 400 years, will pass through New York on April 8, and residents will have an opportunity to celebrate its arrival.

The event will be held on the large field next to the Inn at Bear Mountain State Park. Attendees will learn about eclipses while viewing the phenomenon.
Additionally, the park will provide 50 eclipse glasses that will be distributed to guests on a first come, first served basis.
Attendees are encouraged to bring their own lawn chairs and blankets to view the eclipse in comfort.
