News 12 is on the scene of a developing investigation in Orange County where state police dive teams are searching an area of the Moodna Creek in Washingtonville for evidence.

Divers were seen for hours Wednesday going in and out of the water beneath a bridge off Nicholl Street.

Washingtonville police say the efforts are part of a dayslong search for “details of a crime” and that they previously had their K9 on scene.

The area is near two mobile home parks - Brookside Acres and Washingtonville Manor, according to police.

News 12 also saw a state police diver in the water with a metal detector.

Neighbors say the area is normally very quiet.

“I don’t know, you know. This came as a shock that they’re looking for something,” says Bob Manuele.

The Washingtonville Police Department posted to Facebook Wednesday morning that there was a heavy police presence at the scene due to an ongoing investigation.
