Montgomery man charged, officer’s conduct under review following Walmart larceny

A Montgomery man is facing several charges and a police officer’s conduct is under review due to a shoplifting incident Friday at Walmart in Newburgh.
Part of the arrest was caught on camera and given to News 12. It shows a Town of Newburgh police officer appear to punch the suspect, who police say was in the front seat of a taxicab.
Authorities say 59-year-old David Bardari was resisting arrest and tried to steal the taxi to get away after he was caught stealing from the retail store. They say Bardari kicked and punched the officer before the witness recording began.
Bardari was charged with criminal mischief, resisting arrest, obstruction of governmental administration, larceny and attempted grand larceny. He was issued an appearance ticket. Authorities say he stole less than a $100 worth of clothing and hair care items from Walmart.
