The number of Democrats backing Vice President Kamala Harris' campaign for president is growing by the minute as she works to secure the number of delegates necessary to win the party's nomination.

Among those supporting her is Rockland County Legislator Beth Davidson.

Davidson was among the wave of Democrats who won legislative seats last year that gave the party its first-ever supermajority. Now she's focused on helping elect Harris to the nation's top position.

"People are calling local offices including our own New York Democratic office here in Rockland you know, this is going to turn out volunteers, this is going to mobilize energy," Davidson said.

Davidson initially backed Harris during the 2020 presidential primary before volunteering for President Joe Biden's campaign once he secured the nomination. Davidson, who has met Harris in person, called Harris persuasive, moving and a champion for women's rights.

"She has been the number one person prosecuting the case for our reproductive rights against Donald Trump," Davidson said.

Next month, she will be one of 300 New York Democratic delegates casting their votes for the party's nominee at the Democratic National Convention in Chicago. Her vote is for Harris.

"She really felt like the future of the Democratic Party and she certainly feels like that today," she said.
