The Town of Walkill announced it is proposing noise ordinances at the Orange County Fairgrounds.

The new rules would impact future events at the fairgrounds and the speedway.

"My residents enjoy the races,” said one business owner. “My residents enjoy the rodeos, the fireworks. What we don't enjoy, is being woken up at 7 a.m. with music that is deafening. We're not talking about music you can dance to, we're talking about music. Our windows are rattling.”

Some officials have suggested solutions, including a noise curfew and a permitting process that would screen the types of events that can be held at the fairgrounds.
