New York won’t build big data centers for a year as it weighs energy and climate risks

More than $64 million in funding is being allocated to projects across New York state, with several projects in the Hudson Valley receiving substantial grants through the state's Restore New York Communities Initiative.

The initiative aims to revitalize communities and generate new residential and economic opportunities across the state.

Local projects receiving funding include:

• Beacon: The city will receive $1 million to transform a former auto garage on Main Street into a public art studio.

• Port Jervis: The city received over $1.7 million to reconstruct a building on Front Street that was damaged by fire.

• Ulster County: The county secured over $2 million to restore a historic hotel in Pine Hill and renovate two businesses in Kingston.
