A serious crash on Route 22 in North Castle closed four lanes of traffic for hours on Thursday.

The accident occurred between Route 120 and Old Orchard Street, causing major traffic delays that lasted well into the evening.

All lanes on Route 22 have since reopened.

Police are investigating the cause of the crash
