‘The ultimate sacrifice.’ Army Reserve renames Orangeburg facility after fallen sergeant
Organizers said Jaror C. Puello was born in the Dominican Republic in 1966 and immigrated to the U.S. in 1990 when he enlisted into the Army.

The United States Army Reserve renamed its facility in Orangeburg after fallen Sgt. Jaror C. Puello on Saturday.
Organizers said he was born in the Dominican Republic in 1966 and immigrated to the U.S. in 1990 when he enlisted into the Army.
He transferred to the 812th Military Police Company in Orangeburg in 2001. He was moved to the 310th Military Police Battalion in Uniondale later on in his career. He moved with this unit to Kuwait and Iraq in 2003.
They said he was killed in July of that year while saving the lives of his squad leader and teammate. His valor is one of the reasons why Major General Kris A. Belanger, commanding general for the 99th Readiness Division, said they wanted to rename the facility after him.
"He put forth his life to save other soldiers' lives and that was the big significant reason we're here today to honor him," she said. "He paid the ultimate sacrifice."
