The Mount Vernon man accused of pulling the trigger in a deadly shooting in New Rochelle face a judge Thursday.

News 12 is also learning new details about the other three suspects who police say were involved.

"He did turn himself in today, which was a great ending to this unfortunate incident," says Capt. J. Collins Coyne, with New Rochelle police.

The shooting happened Monday morning at the Heritage Homes housing complex off of Brook Street.

Mount Vernon resident David Smith, 22, was shot multiple times before he died at a hospital.

According to police, the alleged shooter, Ali Mohammed, turned himself in Wednesday afternoon.

"While we were doing the search, detectives encouraged people that may know the suspect to encourage the suspect to turn himself in to prevent any violent outcome," says Coyne.

Mohammed faces charges of second degree murder and criminal possession of a weapon.

Three other people were arrested earlier this week in connection with the shooting. Marquis Williamson, 21, and Amiri Oneal, 21, are facing second-degree murder charges.

Anthony Webster, 20, is facing a criminal possession of a weapon charge.

Police have not released a motive. They believe the suspects knew Smith.

Separately, Smith was due in court Wednesday in Stamford, Connecticut.

He was facing charges related to a nearly $1 million scam involving DoorDash drivers in California.

Smith's attorney says he was shocked to learn of his client's death. He tells News 12, "he was a quiet, kind young man who I had the pleasure of knowing. I feel terrible for his family. What a tragedy."

The three suspects who were arrested earlier this week in connection with the deadly shooting will be back in court on Jan. 17.

The alleged gunman is scheduled to be arraigned Thursday.
