A local taxi driver is facing multiple charges after allegedly attacking a passenger in Spring Valley earlier this month, according to police.

Authorities say Kevin Mazariego-Figueroa, 22, picked up a female passenger on May 5 and drove erratically and refused to let her leave the car.

Police said he crashed into a fence on Ridge Avenue, then threatened the woman with a screwdriver and tried to rob her. She escaped and called for help.

Mazariego-Figueroa is now charged with kidnapping, robbery, and strangulation.
