Westchester beaches shut down after storm runoff raises safety concerns

Several beaches in Westchester County are closed today following recent heavy rain.

The Westchester County Department of Health made the announcement Wednesday morning, citing water quality concerns.

In Mamaroneck, closures include Harbor Island, Beach Point Club, Orienta Beach Club, and Mamaroneck Beach and Yacht Club.

In New Rochelle, Hudson Park Beach, Davenport Club, Greentree Club and Surf Club are all closed.

In Rye, the Coveleigh Club is also shut down.

The county has not said when the beaches will reopen.
