A man was shot outside of a restaurant on the Newburgh waterfront early Saturday morning.

City of Newburgh police say they responded around 2:25 a.m. to a ShotSpotter alert on Front Street. When officers arrived, they found evidence of a shooting, including a vehicle that had been struck.

News 12 was alerted to the incident by a tipster, who said the shooting happened near Billy Joe’s Ribworks. A representative for Billy Joe’s Ribworks says the shooting occurred off of the property, closer to the ferry dock.

The male victim was located at Montefiore St. Luke’s Cornwall Hospital with what appears to be a non-life-threatening gunshot wound, according to police.

The Non-Fatal Shooting Task Force and city detectives are investigating.

Anyone with information is asked to call Detective Sgt. Jodice at 845-569-7509. Tips can be made anonymously.
