Taxing Long Island: Long Islanders are paying more for cannabis, according to new data

Officials say a steep drop over a short period of time could hurt businesses, and they don't want that to happen

New data from the New York Office of Cannabis Management shows Long Islanders are paying more for cannabis than any other region in the state.

This comes as the state says prices at licensed dispensaries have actually fallen since September. Long Islanders are still having to pay more for legal cannabis, even though the state says the average Long Island dispensary has higher sales than anywhere else in the state.

The state says it's also keeping a close eye on the overall falling prices for cannabis across New York. They say a steep drop over a short period of time could hurt businesses, and they don't want that to happen
