2 suspects in custody following shots fired incident in Yonkers

Authorities say police responded to the area of 228 New Main St. on reports of shots fired just before 2:30 p.m.

Two people are in custody after a shots fired incident Thursday afternoon in Yonkers, according to police.

Authorities say police responded to the area of 228 New Main St. on reports of shots fired just before 2:30 p.m.

Responding officers discovered shell casings and identified the two suspects who fled the scene before they were taken into custody.

A Yonkers Schools spokesperson says Ella Fitzgerald Academy was on lockout due to police activity in the area as a precaution.

The lockout was lifted between 3 p.m. and 3:05 p.m.

Dismissal occurred at normal time.

Police say there were no injuries. One vehicle, however sustained damage from the shots.

Police say there is no threat to the public as of late Thursday afternoon.

It was not immediately clear what led to shots being fired.
