A former Rockland County correction officer appeared in Rockland County court in New City on Tuesday and admitted to violating the terms and conditions of his probation.

John Kezek stood before Judge Robert Prisco and acknowledged the violation during 30-minute hearing. The admission stems from a new misdemeanor charge Kezek is facing in Tennessee, where he now lives.

News 12 learned in court that the former correction officer is accused of falsifying drug test results there in October 2025. He allegedly purchasing urine and had CBD gummies. That violates the conditions of the probation sentence he received in Rockland County.

News 12 reported on Kezek in 2021 when he pleaded guilty to tampering with public records and official misconduct. Then in 2024, he also pleaded guilty to unlawful imprisonment and forcible touching. He was sentenced to five years of probation.

During Friday's proceeding, Kezek was supported by a large group of family members and friends who filled his side of the courtroom behind him.

While the Rockland District Attorney’s Office asked in court Friday that he be remanded, Judge Prisco decided he would remain out until sentencing. However, the judge made it clear that serious consequences would happen if he were not to show up including a warrant for his arrest.

"You would be insane not to appear here on February 13, 2026, because I promise you, sir, you will receive consecutive sentences. State prison sentences- if you fail to appear," said Judge Prisco.

Prisco indicated he is likely to sentence Kezek to two consecutive one-year terms in the Rockland County Jail when he returns to court for sentencing next month.

Following the hearing, court officers stepped in to deescalated a tense situation after a woman related to Kezek loudly approached the assistant district attorney.

News 12 is waiting for a statement from Kezek's family.
