New video shows a security monitor saving a student’s life at Vails Gate STEAM Academy in New Windsor.

The Newburgh City School District says a first-grader was choking in the cafeteria when Tyreek Johnson jumped in and used the Heimlich maneuver to dislodge the food.

Johnson then immediately took the child to the nurse.

School officials say Johnson previously performed the Heimlich maneuver on a second-grader in the same cafeteria in 2023.

The student is safe thanks to the quick response.
