An out‑of‑court settlement has been reached in a lawsuit tied to a fatal police shooting in Orange County involving a Newburgh man.

Tyrell Fincher, 27, was shot in 2020 after City of Newburgh police said he pointed a gun at officers while being taken into custody.

Fincher's family said he was not trying to shoot police.

A grand jury cleared the three officers involved in the shooting.

The family's attorney said the settlement brings some closure but could not reveal any data.
