A family in Airmont is displaced after firefighters braved freezing temperatures to battle a three-alarm house fire.
Firefighters from eight local departments responded to a call of a house on fire at 4 Haskell Road in Airmont, at around 12:15 p.m. on Saturday.
Crews found flames and smoke pouring out of the front door and the windows.
"There were four or five people in the house. They all got out safely and the firefighters confirmed that when they got here. Because of the cold weather, and the amount of fire in the house, it was very manpower intensive, so we wanted to rotate guys in and out and keep everybody safe," said Rockland County Fire Coordinator Chris Kear.
Kear says the home is a total loss. The cause of the fire was not immediately known.
