Residents along Yonkers cul-de-sac and dead end plowed out after blizzard

Residents of Via Trenta Court in Yonkers saw their street cleared of snow for the first time Tuesday afternoon.
When News 12 visited the neighborhood Tuesday morning, following a call from a concerned resident, one side of the street remained largely untouched. On the other, residents had resorted to shoveling, salting and using a snow blower to clear the area themselves.
“Even with a little bit of snow sometimes they don’t shovel. We have a lot of elderly people that live on this block,” said resident Arthur Ali, who has lived on the street for three years.
“God forbid in case of an emergency… if anybody needs help over here, you can’t get an ambulance?” said another resident, Dave Rovello, who has lived there for 20 years.

Councilman Tim Hodges, who represents the area, responded, saying the storm brought nearly 2 feet of snow with high winds, creating difficult conditions for cleanup and emergency response. He noted that Via Trenta is a dead end, which is typically plowed last, and that its narrow width requires a smaller plow truck.
