State police investigate death of woman at Ellenville home

State police are investigating the death of a woman at a home on Clinton Avenue Extension in Ellenville.
Authorities have released limited information, saying only that it is an active death investigation.
Troopers have been on scene since at least Tuesday morning, according to neighbors.
Crime scene tape surrounds the property, including the backyard, where children’s bikes and a plastic playhouse can be seen.
A marked state police unit and two unmarked, black vans remain stationed outside the home.
News 12 observed members of the state police forensics unit going in and out of the home on Wednesday afternoon, wearing gloves and carrying bags of evidence.
Neighbors say the heavy police presence has left them uneasy.
“Something is going on. We are locking our doors. We are not taking any chances,” said Beth Guarneri, who lives nearby.
Another neighbor told News 12 that all of her doors and windows are locked.
A relative of the victim, who asked not to be identified, told News 12 the woman’s first name is Nicole and that she was 29 years old.
The relative also said a welfare check was requested before the woman was found. That information has not been confirmed by state police.
State police have not said what led to the woman’s death or whether any criminality is suspected.
No additional information has been released.
