Concerned residents in Williston Park said there was a large Nassau County police presence in several parts of the village on Wednesday evening.

According to witnesses, police in large trucks were investigating part of a residential neighborhood as a helicopter flew overhead around 6 p.m. yesterday.

Pictures sent to News 12 by a viewer showed police taking a person into custody on the baseball field at Center Street Elementary School. The school is part of the Herricks School District.

Nassau County police have released very few details, only describing it as a domestic situation.

News 12 asked police for more information about what led up to the incident and who they took into custody, but officials wouldn't comment at this time.

There is no ongoing threat to the public, Nassau County police said.

The investigation is ongoing.
