Dave Portnoy is known for reviewing pizzas, but also for bad mouthing the ones made on Long Island.
But now the founder of Barstool Sports stopped by one spot in Suffolk County that might be the exception.
Portnoy paid a visit to Mike’s Underground Pizza in Amityville this week for his popular ‘One Bite Pizza Reviews’, where he samples pizza at restaurants around the world.
“I've spent a couple years trashing Long Island pizza, because I said it’s floppy, it’s doughy and everyone's like, oh Long Island, but I haven't had any -- this is very good,” Portnoy explained.
"I'll go 8.1 on this," he continued giving his official rating, an impressive mark on social media personality’s well-known highly critical scale.
Mike’s is known to function a little differently and discretely, with ordering available through pickup via text or delivery, but not with a third party.
If you're out of delivery range, a waiter in a suit and tie will meet you at a designated location to hand off your pie.
Dave also reviewed another Suffolk slice while he was in the area, at Nico’s Charred Pies in Copiague, giving them a similarly stellar score of 8.2.
