A Deer Park woman was convicted of throwing an explosive device into her boyfriend’s bedroom while he was sleeping.
Prosecutors say that after arguing with her boyfriend, Keyonna Waddell threw what looked to be a burning stick of dynamite into his room.
They say the boyfriend tried to put it out and throw it outside, but it detonated in his hand.
He lost his hand as a result.
“Domestic violence can escalate to deadly levels, and this case is a sobering reminder of that reality,” said Suffolk County District Attorney Raymond Tierney.
Waddell faces 25 years in prison at sentencing.
