Overnight, dry air and gusty winds will continue the elevated risk for fires to spread across the Hudson Valley. Even small sparks could grow quickly, so it’s important to avoid outdoor burning and use extra caution. The statewide burn ban remains in effect through May 14th
On Monday, temperatures will start to warm up, with highs reaching the upper 60s to low 70s. However, breezy conditions and low humidity will once again raise the risk of fire spread through the day before easing later on.
By Tuesday, it will feel much warmer across the Hudson Valley, with temperatures climbing well above normal into the 70s and even low 80s in some spots. Skies will be mostly sunny, and while most areas stay dry, a brief shower can’t be completely ruled out.
Looking ahead to Wednesday into Thursday night, a slow-moving weather system is expected to bring rounds of rain and a few thunderstorms. While details are still being refined, periods of heavier rain are possible, so it’s something to keep an eye on as the week progresses.
