Historic Rye Bath House at Oakland Beach reopens following $2M renovation

Officials cut the ribbon Saturday on the newly-renovated Bath House at Oakland Beach in Rye to mark a major milestone in a nearly $2 million effort to preserve and improve one of Westchester County’s most historic waterfront destinations.
Rye Town Supervisor Gary Zuckerman said visitors are going to walk in and say “wow” after years of work on new bath houses, new roofs and restored historic features.
The Bath House is part of the Rye Town Park complex, a Mission Revival-style recreation site founded in 1909 and listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
Beachgoers said the upgrades were long overdue.
“The renovation of this building and the towers in the administration is long overdue,” said Pat, of Rye. “They’ve done wonderful things. Looking forward to a great summer.”
New York State Parks, Westchester County, the City and Town of Rye and the local Elks Lodge funded the project.
Officials said the upgrades should make the beach more accommodating and accessible for visitors this summer.
