The STEM Alliance and Schooner SoundWaters is bringing marine life education to kids this summer at Harbor Island in Mamaroneck.
STEM sails brought hands-on learning to students on Sunday by bringing them aboard the SoundWaters Schooner. They engaged in activities that bring awareness to animal life, properties of water and how human activity impacts marine life.
SoundWaters, an environmentally educational nonprofit, has two land locations in Stamford, Connecticut. Each year, they come up to Mamaroneck's STEM Alliance for a weekend to bring students out the water and to "build an excitement on protecting and learning about marine education."
This program invites elementary and middle school students to join. They will be hosting various sail dates throughout the summer.
