Today is the kind of day you are going to want to get outside and enjoy! It is the Pick of the Week with sunny skies, pleasant & seasonal temps along with a light breeze. High pressure sitting overhead is to thank for this delightful weather to start the work week!

While the weather is fantastic, the UV index will be running very high, so grab that sunscreen. The allergy medication may be needed as well as grass and oak tree pollen is running high.

Mid-week has cloud cover starting to increase as temperatures slowly rise. Wednesday has a threat of afternoon rain and storms moving through. This is due to high pressure moving offshore and the first of several disturbances swinging into the region. With high pressure to our east, it will allow a southerly flow of air to come our way. This will help to increase the temperatures but also the humidity levels. This trend will continue into the end of the work week and into the weekend.

From Thursday to Saturday, we'll have a shot at seeing a heat wave come to the Hudson Valley. A heat wave is defined as three consecutive days in a row of temps at or above 90 degrees. We have those three days forecast to hit the low 90s. While the temps climb, the rising humidity will make it feel even warmer. Your A/C will be running overtime during that stretch. There is a potential for storms to come through for that same stretch, where the heat and humidity will help to fuel their creation. Some storms could turn severe, but at this point early on in the week, the severity and duration details have yet to be ironed out.
