STORM WATCH: Severe storms are possible this evening

It's a hot and dry afternoon with a risk for strong storms that could affect some evening plans.

HOT TODAY WITH STRONG PM STORMS

It's a hot Saturday with hazy sunshine and dry weather for most of the daytime. A strong thunderstorm is possible after 5 p.m. and these storms could bring small hail and frequent lightning. The Storm Prediction Center has the entire Hudson Valley under a level 2 out of 5 risk for severe weather.

AIR QUALITY ALERT CONTINUES

Elevated levels of ground ozone will reduce air quality today. Limit strenuous outdoor activity during the hottest parts of the day and drink plenty of water. Those with heart or respiratory issues, the young and the elderly are at the highest risk for impacts.

WARM AND DRY SUNDAY

A mix of sun and clouds is expected with a warm and muggy start to the day, in the 60s and 70s, and afternoon highs in the mid 80s. Rain is not expected.

BEACH AND BOAT FORECAST

Water temperatures are cooler than normal for this time of the year, generally in the mid and upper 50s. A High Risk for dangerous rip currents is expected today and a moderate risk is in the forecast tomorrow for all Atlantic facing beaches.

Boaters should exert caution. Rough seas are expected to develop this afternoon with a stronger south west wind.

NEXT WEEK


Rain is not expected for most of next week. Highs near 80 degrees are expected to start off the week but temperatures will once again climb near or into the 90s by the end of the week.
