The City of White Plains marked Juneteenth with its 22nd annual celebration on Saturday, bringing the community together for a day of reflection, culture, and unity.

The event featured a vibrant parade followed by a festival on Court Street, where residents enjoyed live music, art, educational exhibits, food vendors, and family-friendly activities. This year’s theme, “Preserving Our Legacy,” highlighted the importance of honoring the past while looking toward the future.

Juneteenth commemorates the end of slavery in the United States, marking June 19, 1865, the day Union troops arrived in Galveston, Texas, to announce that enslaved people were free.

The annual celebration continues to serve as a meaningful reminder of history, resilience, and the ongoing effort to preserve cultural legacy in the community.
