What to Expect:
Periods of rain will continue through the morning, so keep the rain gear handy before heading out. Despite the wet start, it will turn warm, humid and windy this afternoon, with temperatures reaching the upper 70s and lower 80s.
The Hudson Valley remains under a Slight Risk (Level 2 of 5) for severe weather today. Any thunderstorms that develop could produce damaging wind gusts between 50 and 60 mph. However, storms are expected to be isolated, meaning some communities may not see a thunderstorm at all while others could experience a brief but strong storm during the afternoon or evening.
For those attending the New York Knicks ticker-tape parade, expect breezy, muggy and occasionally wet conditions. Passing showers and perhaps a thunderstorm are possible, especially around midday.
Even outside of thunderstorms, southwest winds could gust to around 30 mph throughout the day. The threat for severe weather diminishes tonight, although breezy conditions will continue under partly cloudy skies.
Friday brings improving weather, with decreasing clouds, lower humidity and lighter winds. High temperatures will return closer to seasonal averages.
The pleasant pattern continues into Father's Day weekend. Saturday and Sunday both feature plenty of sunshine, comfortable humidity levels and seasonable temperatures, making for excellent outdoor weather.
Looking ahead, the next chance for widespread rain arrives Monday as another storm system approaches the region.
